Sophie Kihm, LCSW, PMH-C
Hi! I’m Sophie Kihm, LCSW, PMH-C. I’m a perinatal therapist providing virtual therapy. My practice is based in Chicago, and I support clients throughout Illinois. I help parents and parents-to-be navigate pregnancy, postpartum anxiety and depression, infertility, reproductive loss, and the transition to parenthood.
I’m an energetic, open, and creative clinician with a warm and flexible approach. Each session is tailored to your needs — which can change from week to week!
My goal is to create a space where you can comfortably process difficult emotions, develop coping skills, and ultimately build confidence in your role as a parent.
Who I Work With
I provide therapy for:
Expectant parents experiencing pregnancy anxiety, prenatal depression, and OCD
New parents dealing with postpartum anxiety, depression, and intrusive thoughts
Parents and parents-to-be coping with infertility, stress around trying to conceive, and reproductive loss
Parents of babies in the NICU or with high-risk pregnancies
Therapy is tailored to individual clients, including mothers and fathers, and sessions fit the realities of parenting — babies are welcome, and breastfeeding during sessions is completely fine.

More About Me
I’m a fifth-generation Evanstonian, now living in Chicago. Pregnancy and parenting have always fascinated me — I was the girl reading mommy blogs in the computer lab at school — and I wanted to combine that interest with my background in psychology. Once I found perinatal therapy, it felt like a natural fit.
I also serve as Editor-in-Chief of Nameberry, the world’s largest website devoted to names. Through this work, I’ve seen firsthand the excitement, meaning (and pressure!) that can come with preparing for a baby, and I bring that perspective into my work with clients.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy cooking, traveling, reading, and spending time with my family and miniature poodle, who occasionally pops into sessions.
